Mannheim, Germany based Spiral Drive crafts big waves of psychedelia on their latest "Inner Truth" from their upcoming second studio album "Visions In Bloom" set to drop on March 2022. There is a heightened reality to their sound and after a dynamic flood of sounds opening the track, the big wave dissipates to big bass lines, droning pulsating synths, a pushed shifting drum beat and Andreas Haslacher's hushed croon. The loud / quiet formula is compelling and Andreas' vocal aesthetic floating in an otherworldly haze feels artfully dreamy. It gives the psych indie sound a push into avant garde post punk and sparkly electro pop and I thought of an amalgam of artists like Porches, Tame Impala, Purity Ring, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Pond. As Andreas spins out words, sparse keys and occasional drum flourishes work so subtlety, a testament to push and pull dynamics. The production elevates the track creating a brilliant theatricality knocking on art rock doors but, thankfully, not stepping fully inside.
Spiral Drive as the project of songwriter and producer Raphael Neikes (Guitars / Background Vocals / Additional Synthesizers) includes Andreas Haslacher (Lead Vocals / Synthesizers), Nicholas Stampf (Drums) and David Knevels (Bass). "Inner Truth" was written by Andreas and Raphael.

EARNING A PROMISING REPUTATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE SPIRAL DRIVE
BEGAN PLAYING FESTIVALS AND OPENING SHOWS FOR ACTS SUCH AS THE VINTAGE CARAVAN AND MOTHER’S CAKE. NOT LONG AFTER THEIR SECOND SINGLE RELEASE “INFINITY” GOT AIR PLAYED ON VARIOUS RADIO STATIONS. AS A RESULT THE BAND GOT OFFERED A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE VIENNA BASED LABEL STONEFREE RECORDS.
WHILE WORKING ON THE SELF PRODUCED DEBUT ALBUM “UNITY” THEY CONTINUED PLAYING MULTIPLE FESTIVALS, AMONGST OTHERS MAIFELD DERBY AND JAZZ AND JOY FESTIVAL. FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF “UNITY” IN SEPTEMBER 2019 SPIRAL DRIVE HEADLINED AN EXTENDED TOUR THROUGH GERMANY AND AUSTRIA.
AS FOR 2020 THE BAND STARTED OFF THEIR YEAR OPENING SHOWS FOR MOTHERS CAKE AND IS CURRENTLY RELEASING NEW SINGLES FROM THEIR UPCOMING SECOND STUDIO ALBUM VISIONS IN BLOOM, WHICH WILL BE OUT BY THE BEGINNING OF MARCH 2022.
