Bathe Alone and the moving dream pop beauty of "Decades & Dreams" (Official Video)

I don't know if I will ever be able to separate the song from the official video when it comes to the tenderly gorgeous "Decades & Dreams" by Bathe Alone, the Atlanta based one woman project of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Bailey Crone, but that doesn't bother me even though I tend to like to hear songs I haven't heard before outside of the context of the video. "Decades & Dreams" is perfectly rendered and as someone who dabbles in songwriting and has self produced, it is such an emotionally balanced production. I usually like when artists have other's produce but Bailey has an exquisite touch here. She builds off of a stair stepping melody voiced by mellotron-esque sounds, voice and crystalline piano keys while the acoustic guitar voicing's have a comfortable counter poised melody line. Bailey's vocal aesthetic bathed in a slight shoegaze haze and layered up in spots is hushed, beautiful and tenderly moving. I am not sure if Bailey steeps herself in (good) 80's music but the song feels (to me) to have more to do with that decade's romance wave / new wave artists like Spandau Ballet, Cyndi Lauper and even Roxy Music than more contemporary artist's like Beach House. Or maybe a cross-generational amalgam of all of them or more. In the end, it doesn't matter and we will all see and hear what we want to based on Bailey's wonderfully evocative sonic cues that push memory buttons.

I love the Official Video and rather than describe it I will just say that as fun as it is, it made my eyes watery and, no, it wasn't my allergy to Bubbe (the cat).

"Decade & Dreams" is the first moving taste of Bathe Alone's sophomore album "Fall With The Lights Down" released via The Record Machine and I look forward into diving in. Oh, and can't wait to call Tante Kitty, it's been too long.

Bathe Alone is the Dream Pop one-woman solo project of multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Bailey Crone based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Bailey plays everything on the project from drums, guitar, bass, to vocals and aims to create songs you can "lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling to".

Bailey started out writing music only for herself for almost 10 years. Not because she didn't want to share her art, but because she didn't know how. She spent this time nonstop creating and honing in on her own unique sound, which has been described as a sound she has perfected. After meeting producer Damon Moon in 2018 (producer of Lunar Vacation) she was finally able to work in an environment she trusted, and on September 4th 2019, she released her first single The Silence to the world. The Silence was picked up by two Spofity Editorial Playlists and immediately, Bathe Alone began attracting attention in the Indie Dream Pop world.

Bailey is working on the release of her debut commercial LP titled "Last Looks", coming this 2020. The album thematically deep-dives into her struggles with anxiety and loss, taking time to express her discomfort within the moment with singles like "Champagne" and "Calm Down", as well as recognizing how deep seeded her struggles with loss really are with breakout single "The Silence" and other yet to be released tracks from the LP.
