Fire Ant Season and the punching folk punk sway of "Privilege Blues"

"please pardon my mess as I verbally shit on each and every one of you..."

"Privilege Blues" isn't a blues song but a folk punkian spewing of wit and wisdom against sprite acoustic rhythms and bohemian guitar lines by the Austin folk punk duo Fire Ant Season. It is the kind of song enjoyed in a backyard while a bit inebriated and gently moshing in one corner of the yard on top of virgin flowers. The vocal aesthetic, an amalgam of Jeff Rosenstock angst, Billy on The Street exasperation and Violent Femmes busker punk charm is totally passionate in it's dire spoken word gusto. It is like a campfire song sprayed with lighter fluid and I would love to hear it during an open scene in some future movie. It would work so well as a counterpoised emotional framework as you follow some well dressed sad sack going to a meaningless job and failing to look happy as they go through the motions.

Fire Ant Season is comprised of Nate (Nathan Gregory Bornstein) on lead vox / guitar and Tim (Tim Harlow) on mandolin / vox. "Privilege Blues" is from their "Bad Habits" EP.
