November Ultra and the pure all encompassing beauty and grace of "open arms"

Paris, France based artist, singer-songwriter November Ultra possesses such a beautiful vocal presence unfettered by outside artistic pressures, free from following the indie pop tropes of the day, just purely herself and following her artistic heart. Her latest offering "open arms" has the grace of a children's lullaby and the ascending grandeur of a surreal day-dream we can all step into and feel her radiant light. Sometimes when a song is so purely driven my mind goes to a counterpoised place, I am just built that way so I would feel some darkness against it because it is so elegantly dreamy and pretty. I would picture it against a David Lynch-ian story or shape but not here, not at all. Maybe because it is just too beautiful and embracing to soil or darken in any way.

I appreciate November's ability to not overdo any aspect of her vocal aesthetic. It is an aesthetic that so many singers can take inspiration from. "open arms" is from November Ultra's debut album "Bedroom Walls". I am struck by November's words about how important singing / creating is to her.

She shares:

“There’s a video of me where I’m yelling that I love to sing,” she explains. “My dad’s coming home and just wants some peace and he’s like, “We can sing tomorrow”. I’m like, ”I don’t want to sing tomorrow – I want to sing today until tomorrow.”

That quote makes me smile broadly, deeply.

French artist November Ultra is sharing her debut album Bedroom Walls. As a singer-songwriter, she divides her time between recording studios and her DIY bedroom-studio, working for others as a topliner/songwriter (Jaden Smith, Kungs, Barbara Pravi) while recording, exploring and producing her own songs on Ableton. November Ultra went viral on TikTok last summer when Camila Cabello posted a video on TikTok using the song ‘’Come into my arms’’ which went viral and saw November Ultra’s TikTok getting more than 8M views and a lot of Duet Me videos leading to her becoming one of the Billboard Song Breaker in August.
