SUÐ and the poignant heaviness of "Save the Swimmers"

"Save the swimmers, hide your own fears / They've been out there, since early daylight..."

The latest full length from Reykjavík, Iceland's SUÐ is called "Save the Swimmers" and the title track, full of blasting guitars, ramping up bass and drums and Helgi's poignant vox is feels dynamically rich, as indie rock punchy as it feels moving. The three piece outfit, Helgi on guitar and vox, his twin brother, Kjartan on bass and keyboards and Magnús on drums know the elegant pummel of keeping things sparse, of the quite / loud manifesto and the absolute power of guitar notes over chords (when appropriate). "Save the Swimmers" has lyrics that are glorious vague and drenched with empathy, something we need a lot of right now. I also absolutely love the bent dissonant guitar lines that create artistic tension. Dig this song and hope to dive into the full album soon.
