Chinese American Bear and the universal embrace of "星星 (Stars)"

 

"shining and sparkling in the sky / little stars leading us..."

星星 (Stars) from Brooklyn based Chinese American Bear's eponymous 2022 album is a endearing, floating bedroom pop indie song with gentle psychedelic lounge punk shimmers throughout. Like all of the duo's songs it is sung in Chinese (except for maybe 2 words) and the aesthetic is easy, upbeat, charming and fun. Watching the delightful Official Video which features the duo in space and at one point giving noodles to the universe feels oddly refreshing, whimsical and enchanting and had me quietly singing along. You see the video subtlety displays both English and Phonetic Chinese translations. 

A wonderful, positive, find and curiously I had the hunger to hear Chinese American Bear an hour after listening (sorry, yes I am embarrassed).
