Conflict at Serenity Pools fuels escapist dreams on "Our Minds" (Official Video)

"when I walk around and everyone is fuzzy..."

I like when band or project names make songs that sound like that kind of name would make. This is the case with Conflict at Serenity Pools (CASP) out of Los Angeles. I don't know much about the enigmatic man behind this artful project and whether CASP is strictly solo or if he uses collaborators but whatever is the case, the single "Our Minds" accompanied with a cool dreamy Official Video sounds like a song that a band / musician Conflict at Serenity Pools would make. I guess that makes perfect sense when you think about it.

"Our Minds" off of CASP's "Type B" that dropped on May 6th of this year and is the 'second side' of their debut release Type A that dropped on April 1 of this year has a languid hazy atmosphere with big beats, synth rhythms and a sense of electronic ambient drops. There is a sweet melancholy guitar line running throughout that has a lovely decidedly late 80's / early 90's feeling, like a more acid trippy skewed John Hughes soundtrack, a darkly sadder "Pretty in Pink". The vox that is cast in a shoegaze Beach House-ian allure bounces along despite the easy beat giving the track a pushed urgency. There are moments that breathe in such a nice way that feels like nostalgic Brit pop, like something between Modern English or The Psychedelic Furs. Very dreamy, very hazy, very escapist and who doesn't need to escape these days.
