French Cassettes and the interwoven brilliance of "On/Off" (Official Video)

"you said you were the only one, you said you were the only one..."

There is such a lush progressive thing happening on French Cassettes' latest "On/Off". Whether you lean toward calling this sound indie pop or indie rock doesn't matter. The musical complexities are many amid Scott Huerta's evocative tenderly drawn vocal aesthetic. The interwoven syncopation, exquisite drum work, controlled wild abandon of bass and guitars (and holy hell, I love the sideways sound of the lead guitar breaks). You have here the kind of curious angular quality of bands like Pavement, Television and Modest Mouse or probably an amalgam of all similar such artists.

The musical mayhem here is my favorite part of "On/Off". Oh, and there is a pretty cool Official Video featuring Johnny Knoxville, of all people, but make no mistake the song is the shining star here.
