Josh Fudge and the loving and dying of "98 Nissan"

"you left the car door open, I saw it running with the lights on and it got under my skin but who would break in to a 98 Nissan..."

"98 Nissan" by 19 year old singer / songwriter Josh Fudge is a tasty piece of art, sweet and unassuming but delicious like a soft centered chocolate morsel of See's Candy that you have been craving. Lest we forget that tasty pop morsels are good for ones mental and well being like songs like this. From the machine beats, the fluid guitar lines, crying synths and Josh's endearing vocal aesthetic, this track that ends way too soon is something worth holding onto.

Of the track, Josh shares:

"‘98 NISSAN’ is the next part of my technicolor world that I get to share with you. This track is squishy and sweet-sounding, juxtaposed with lyrics about missing someone and the small interactions you had with them. I envision the retro textures this song is full of giving it a yellowed hue, like an old photograph of a person you don’t talk to anymore. With a more laid-back feel than other songs on the record, It showcases the depth of the color wheel that my music explores."

Josh Fudge recently opened for Bastille on their summer tour, and he will be supporting The Head and The Heartin Tempe, AZ as well as BIG WILD on select dates this summer including a show at Red Rocks on July 28th.

Sharpening his songwriting, Fudge locked into an “aggressive release strategy” throughout 2020, penning, performing, and co-producing each track himself with Logan Bruhn. His single “7 in the Morning” landed a placement on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Indie. “When She’s Gone” debuted on Fresh Finds and peaked at #1 on HypeMachine. He maintained this momentum with the independent project, Fun Times. Among many highlights, “When She’s Gone” cracked 1 million cumulative streams. Fudge also teamed up with Fender to design a custom bass guitar titled, ‘Technicolor’. He designed the bass with his 16-year-old sister and created the perfect bass for his sound. Check it out HERE.

Drawing inspiration from everyone from Billy Joel to Mac Demarco, Fudge has amassed an arsenal of analog synths. He is known for his whimsical bedroom pop that ties in funkadelic bass lines and bombastic percussion. As a child, Fudge became a street performer, busking at neighborhood block parties and local fairs, saving up, and investing in his musical career. He has been honing his craft ever since and his upcoming releases bring a new take to the bedroom-pop world, one that blends groovy bass with vintage synths and moving lyrics. After amassing 10 million-plus streams independently and receiving support from Spotify’s New Music Friday, Glide Magazine, and more, he invites everyone into this space on a series of singles and more music to come.
