Jake Tittle and the adoring curiosities of "Nose Bleeds" (feat. illuminati hotties)

"I used to love that old time religion, I was praying for you sins to catch you in the end..."

"Nose Bleeds" by L.A. singer-songwriter Jake Tittle sounds a bit wonky, maybe even drunk, at least at the start with a wonderfully coarse synth bass line and beat and as Jake's vox come in they feel unsteady too. As guitars, glacial synths, bass, drums slip in like musicians entering the stage behind translucent curtains, it sounds less drunk (still drunk but less so). The atmospheres feel as self reflective as the lyrical content. There is an unease and a sadness here but it all is endearing too. When the female voice comes in (the captivating Lexi Vega) the song shifts in a good way. Oh and all those drunken, sort of wonky elements feel as they should. The chorus is amazing. It somehow reminded me of a 70's Todd Rundgren chorus. Todd always had a way of being self deprecating, of cutting his own throat on his songs which made them all the more charming.

This is what Jake shares about "Nose Bleeds":

I was having trouble leveling out after some rich kid’s LA party and decided to get a message at some bougie message parlor near my house. I was laying on the table just thinking about my life and what lead me here. Nose Bleeds is about what was going through my head on that message table.

I recorded this record with one of my oldest friends, Jon Joseph. Jon is a magic man in the studio and almost every instrument was played by him. In addition we worked with the legendary James McAlister on the drums and my dear friend Lexi Vega on backing vocals.

Soooo, just when you think this song has told it's story another song starts. It feels like a demo, it is a fascinating turn. It would be like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz walking into another movie. It is a curious surprise.

I like surprises.
