Trashkat and the politico punk pummeling of "Fuck Greg Abbott"

Sometimes the message is the song. That is the case for "Fuck Greg Abbott" by Houston's indie punksters Trashkat and at this time in American history, well damn, this might be the most important song there is. The current Texas Governor is a despicable being, a Christian Nationalist whose political survival is wedged against the ratcheting back of women's rights. The "Let Greg Decide" political ad it funny only because the terrifying nature of something so absolutely fascist is hard to take in all at once (see below). The GOP, if not stopped, will end all abortions and then turn the screws against gay marriage, against LGBTQIA+ rights and more. The Festival mentioned in the press notey stuff below will push voter registration with proceeds going to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast and while I secretly wish any money raised would be go towards Beto O'Rourke's campaign (yes, I am single minded), maybe the Festival organizers will pivot after reading this. First things first as they say.     

Fuck Greg Abbott is the latest single from one of Houston Texas’s favorite up-and-coming indie punk bands Trashkat. A change of pace from the usual twangy twangy punk sound they’ve become associated with, this 50-second ripper is packed with driving drums, searing guitar riffs and frontman Garret Martin howling his thoughts about the Texas Governor.

Trashkat and friends are also the organizers of F.G.A. Fest, an all-day music festival/benefit on September 24th at Bohemeo’s in Houston’s East End neighborhood showcasing a diverse lineup of thirteen Houston-based bands and artists. In addition to the musical performances, there will be a voter registration table, nearly twenty vendors, community resources and much more! All of the proceeds from F.G.A. Fest will be donated to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast.
