"go into the silence..."
Coming off the expansive / evocative 2022 album "Memoria" Danish composer, musician, and producer Trentemøller releases the equally dreamy edges of "Into The Silence" featuring DíSA's (Disa Jakobs) compelling voice, a singer who joins him with the all new LIVE Trentemøller band on the Memoria tour.
"During our recent tour," says Trentemøller, "Disa and I spoke about doing a song together. It felt quite obvious as we really developed a common language when we played so many concerts together already. After finishing our first leg of the tour, I immediately went to the studio and wrote the music for this song. It really came to me easily as I felt quite inspired. Disa then wrote this beautiful and bittersweet text that compliments the music so well I think. And her unique voice just melts into the music in a very natural way."
Against what feels like surfy machine beats and double time sliding guitar notes that create such a thick illusory sensation there are caustic noises too. A sense of rattling machinery and abrasive distorted synth keys that offset Disa's vocal countenance that is a once tender, a little broken but ultimately so beautiful. The tensions are dramatic as they are somber, hard dark textures against crystalline translucence.. The song punches you in the gut and hugs you at the same time.
At the time of this review the band has accomplished the European leg of their tour but their are North American dates below:
