Alpha Pet and the diverse post punk persona of 'TV Personality'

The jammy indie rocker 'TV Personality' by Swedish post punk Alpha Pet feels infused with 80's raw energy. A time when it may of seemed like their were less rules, even no rules when it came to new music. There was a lot of genre blending and here, you can feel the alt rock adornments, power pop, and proto punk progressive shapes combined with feral drumming, stabs of guitar and shouty vocals. 

Alpha Pet consists of Rocky Åberg (vocals and guitar), Joakim Almén (bass, backing vocals), Patrik Eklund (drums) and TCM (guitar and synth). Of the track singer Rocky shares:

”It's not really a shock is it? Finding out that the faces you see on TV aren't the faces of saints. It shouldn’t be. Still, that’s the reaction every time some new shit gets dug up. We just got tired of that whole circus and had to get it out some way. Luckily for you it turned into a song with a pretty good chorus. Hopefully it will make us super famous so that we can experience this ‘corruptive power of fame’, the lonely feeling of being in the spotlight and the ‘complete darkness’ getting a full month's pay for smiling into a camera for 38 minutes. That’s some rough shit.”

'TV Personality' is the last single in a series of three songs that together showcase what Alpha Pet are capable of. The song follows up the debut single Concept of Power which was released in May and second single Too Fast, released in August.
