Bad Flamingo and the gothic dark western noir of 'I Won't Let You Die Young'

"I spent my life, learning how to die..."

The dusty, blood stained, leather bound 'I Won't Let You Die Young' by the enigmatic Bad Flamingo has their signature Italian Western noir atmosphere in tact, yes, but maybe I hear something different too. This duo has always had a beautiful talent for less is more, for drawing you into their evocative sounds of bass, guitars, banjo, autoharp and tambourine (for the most part) as a framework for their captivating vox and storytelling. Here at the core if you strip away the bending guitars, cracked piano keys and what feels like a haunting Theremin and focus on the acoustic guitar and core vocal, the song also feels post punkian with Gothic witch house bones.

Either way, it is exquisitely provocative like a theme song for a dark romantic western or dark romantic horror or maybe a combination of both.
