The Long Lost Somethins and the abject heaviness and sadness of 'I Don't Want To Be An Addict'

"Swallowing smoke / Enough to hope / That the lungs I keep / Aren't about to choke / Aren't about to break / Aren't about to go / The forever froth of being alone...

The brooding hot burn of 'I Don't Want To Be An Addict' by Huntington, West Virginia based The Long Lost Somethins turns on darkly drawn lyrics and sonics that blend a sort of 90's post grunge aesthetic with emo-esque melancholia. The constant churning layers and lyrics about "struggles with addiction and faith" feel, at times, like painful gut punches.

Artful, elegant melodies holding tough imagery counterpoised with slamming rhythms and feedback:

"Yesterday, my daily bread
Didn't fulfill the high craved in my head
But it loosened strings and it pulled the thread
I wound up tripping on blood and piss"

'I Don't Want To Be An Addict' is the first song from the band's new album "Barn".
