Dick Dudley and the massively big and potently fun "Dog Park"

"I'm stuck in small talk, standing in a circle in the... dog park!"

Has Australia cornered the market on self referential, acerbic, massively fun and fucking potent punk? Maybe, first The Chats and now the infamous, raucous Dick Dudley. Take their track "Dog Park" for a spin, or maybe a walk. Out of the box, it is big and brash, hyper kinetic in a stagger step kind of way (like Devo and NIN had a baby). The vocal aesthetic somewhere in between a stoic on your ass office manager and the guy who suddenly has blown his lid in the middle of the street, Dick Dudley, as press notes reflect, take the mundane, focus on the negatives and turn the situation inside out.

"Dog Park" is the first track from their upcoming debut EP. James (Guitar) from the band says: “Dog Park was triggered by an 80s Soviet Post-punk drum sample. The early iterations had a dark mechanical sound before it was brought to the band to flesh out together. What came out was a punchy, straight forward and driving track. We just wanted to keep it simple, keep it fun. Richie put down the lyrics almost instantly after hearing the demo. He was staring through the glass doors between our rehearsal space and a newly built dog park. Guess that’s where the lyrical inspiration came from. You’d have to ask him… he’s back in the UK somewhere eating a liver onion chip dinner.”

Dip into "Dog Park" but don't step in the shit.

Northern UK ramblings, straddling a sturdy horse of jarring Australian post punk. Dick Dudley are proudly unconventional. Packed with an emotional punch, their sardonic lyrics are filled to the brim with dry, esoteric wit. Their lyrics are sensitive and introspective, yet self aware enough to take smart jabs at the world and themselves.

Dick Dudley, punk, post punk, alt rock, fun punk, self deprecating, acerbic, crunchy guitars, huge heaviness, Australian, "Dog Park",
