Jacob Chatelain and the beautifully sad eavesdrop of "Then Leave"

"come on, come on I'm the one that you want, don't leave..."

Those unreal moments, the fluttery 'plus and minus' of time and space, the tangible and surreal bits of existence between the dream state and the knowledge that you are still alive and breathing. We have all felt it staring up at the ceiling and that is what "Then Leave" by Northern California singer-songwriter, musician, producer, drummer Jacob Chatelain feels like. It is a heady mix, an eavesdropping session full of melancholia and dark whimsy. This is not to say that the pushed acoustic strains, the canned vocal aesthetic, the free floating drumming, fuzzy lead guitar work, mellotron-esque dabs and the drones of ambient sounds isn't magnetic. It certainly is. It is beautiful in it's sadness.

Jacob shares that "Then Leave is about my struggle with infidelity, parental loss, and the idea of surrender. I needed an outlet, and music became an excuse for me to reach a level of vulnerability I wasn't able to before."
