John Lisi and the progressive, provocative musical swagger of "Daggers"

"I know it seems untrue to you, that these daggers in my eyes can't stab you..."

There is something about the provocatively laced "Dagger" by John Lisi that sounds as elegant as it sounds off center. The urgent cadence, sort of free form jazzy attitude and absolutely lounge punk hearted swagger is fun. The sauntering bass line, nimble guitar work, progressive drumming and John's sinewy vocal aesthetic feel certainly cool but sort of quirky too. The lyrical content is still something I am figuring out but I find the metaphors interesting and like splashing around in the shallows of the emotional depth.

John shares:

"This is the second single from my upcoming EP, “Stargazing,” which I recorded with Charles Dahlke of The Brazen Youth. It’s a dark indie rock song with live instruments and hi-fi production."

Kick your feet up, have a drink or a smoke and dive in.

This is the second single from my upcoming EP, "Stargazing," which I recorded with Charlie Dahlke of the Brazen Youth. The song is about communication and confusion, particularly in relationships with loved ones. I wrote this song pretty quickly in my twin brother's room while we were having an argument- I think the feelings of both love and anger permeate the song, marking a dark spot on the EP that I quite enjoy.
