Katie Boeck and the beauty / understanding / repose of "Over Again"

As much as my thing, as a musician and consumer of sonic art, is the exquisite interplay between musicians on a stage, I am equally in awe of artists who can strip away 'the band' when they need to or wish to and can still make your mouth drop open. Listening to Nashville-based singer/songwriter and actor Katie Boeck on her latest offering "Over Again" made me think about that. Even though this song does have lovely added instrumentation and production, front and center is her beautiful mercurial vocal countenance and rhythmic acoustic guitar. Like a James Taylor, like a Joni Mitchell, Katie's strength is being a songbird.

Her amazing vocal lilt has been featured in film and television and she has appeared on Broadway in Duncan Sheik’s musical “Spring Awakening” where she shared the lead role of Wendla. Katie's new album "Calico" drops in April 2023.
