dye-dye and the hard swagger, subversive avant punk pull of "Candy"

"falling asleep on your couch, all your friends all around..."

"Candy" is definitely of the hard, sharp variety on the dye-dye track. Expressed in raw, artistic tenuous ways with punk hybrid swagger, the song with both piercing and dull but heavy synth sounds I get a sense of both industrial punk and sort of 8 bit tones on high. This iteration as busker punk (decidedly lo-fi in texture) as well as a full and nuanced produced, a mix of both is alluring. It is that kind of small big mix, lo-fi as higher art (thinking of an outfit like The White Stripes for example) that is really interesting here. The vocal aesthetic, internally torn, subversive, sinewy adds to the sound. If "Candy" was a movie it might be about hard subject matter with characters getting hurt. This is my first time hearing dye-dye so mentioning any comparative references is probably foolish but in regards to this track I did think of an amalgam of artists like 1st Base Runner, Vangelism, Golden Vessel, Kenny Hoopla.

this project is named after a blanket I had as a child. I came up with the idea in a college class where we were discussing objects we had as children that we correlate to love and loss. as we grow up, we move on from things that we once loved... this is a pattern that still remains in all of our lives today, and this is what the project is about.
