Amberscent and the elevated emotional drama of "The Wound" (Official Video)

"I keep forgetting things that you've never said..."

Stirring orchestrations, pushed synth movements, passionate vox supported with equally passionate harmonies and soaring walls of sound. "The Wound" by Amberscent, the moniker of artist, composer, producer Giada Squarcia, born in the Marche region of Italy and now based in Rome, has all those things and more and feels more like elevated art than just a song. Giada splits her time between studying classical music, music for cinema and her research on electronic instruments. A triad of thing the converge and blend to manifest her emotions into her music.

"The Wound" as press notes share "is the manifesto of her first full length album and it is an hymn for resilience. It speaks up about the mental health theme, and brings the complexity of our mind's emotions on earth through the dialogue between her voice, the strings and the synthesizer."

Accompanied with a truly beautiful Official Video, as directed by Vincenzo Giordano and developed  / edited by Amberscent and CALAMAZÚ, this track (to me) feels like a recurring theme / title soundtrack for an upcoming NETFLIX binger that I yearn to watch. Like the song itself, the story would be full of mystery, pain and longing, characters full of hope and turmoil, a synergy of pain and survivorship.

Giada Squarcia, aka Amberscent, was born in the Marche region of Italy, and is now based in Rome. Her identity is always split between studies on classical music, those on music for cinema, and research on electronic instruments. She defines everything she writes as multiple attempts to bring those very different parts of herself together, even though whenever she writes on a staff, she actually never starts from herself. The main reason she keeps looking into these opposing and yet matching sounds is that she finds their combination always far more accurate than anything else in describing emotions, and how they affect us. Besides her own project, she is mainly dedicated to the soundtrack of short films, video art and also the live performances of soundtracks on films, for which she received an award for the best experimental soundtrack of a historic advertising spot in the “SeeUsound” international competition in 2021.
