Life for most of us is not easy. We cut a path through it. Along the way we experience adversity, extreme pain and hopefully moments of unbridled joy. The cosmic joke is that the more empathetic we are, the more pain we feel during this thing we call life. I thought about that and a lot more I won't reveal here when listening, feeling the existential two way pop mirror that is "Cosmic Healing" by Cayo Coco, the solo project of Los Angeles based multi-instrumentalist, Lumen Loraine.
"Cosmic Healing" is a deeply thoughtful, beautiful piece of sonic art and depending on your head space the bending sounds, the surreal atmospheres, ethereal emotionality and Lumen's gorgeous and tender vocal lilt might make you feel like you are in a sunshine bath, warm and serene or alternatively you might feel like an open wound. I felt both emotions really. I am not a spiritual man, not a religious one, I don't believe in God and sometimes that fact makes me cry deeply. I don't know why.
"Cosmic Healing" is one of those emotional mercurial songs that feels like a two way mirror. You look through it feeling what Lumen has to offer but you cannot help but see a ghost of yourself too.
Of the track Lumen shares:
"After experiencing a soul connection that ignited my spiritual awakening, I began to see myself, my perceptions, and the world through a different lens. Cosmic Healing is my first song to be released since that time period. Channeled as a gift from my soul to me, the lyrics speak from the perspective of the soul's timeline, and how it extends beyond my one, short, human lifespan as Lumen. May we all follow light & cherish the love our Higher Selves have for us :)"

Maybe when we die we are able to give ourselves up to something unspeakably cosmic, maybe we return to the stardust we came from. I don't believe that really but goddamn it is a lovely thought.
