"in this tower I decay..."
"Wilted Wings" by Hattiesburg, Mississippi based Nighdrator exists in the darkness. The sinewy meets fever dreamy flirts with heaviness and light, with hopelessness and light at the end of underground tunnels. I am digging the screaming static laden guitar courtesy of Stephen Curley that goes from other worldly transmissions of sound to thick power chords, feeling Jonathan Lee Parks' the big walls of bass in tandem with Nick Panella's power punching drumming. Cutting through this massive heaviness is Emma Fruit's vocal countenance that contains softness in the wails. I feel different cross pollinations of sound from grunge, to Gothic rock, dark post punk, sludge metal and psychedelic rock.
