5ON5 and the vibrant power pop candy electric punch of "Sunshine"

"are you the haunting kind or the one that I want most?"

The illusory emotional ghosts of life, blinding sunshine pushing memory buttons in your brain, existential poetry slipped under the skin on cool pop energy you want to skate to, that, sometimes is what you need. I found that his morning listening to "Sunshine" by Berlin based indie rock / alt pop collective 5ON5. The track unabashedly is production driven moving on machine beats, electronica that spans tones from lo-fi to lush and vocals that feel, at once, comfortable in a 90's sing-a-long way but 80's power pop candy delicious too.

Drop this in your eclectic playlist.

5ON5 has a very peculiar way of creating their songs. While their music sounds, for whatever reason, inherently radio friendly, it has a sustained charm that manages to keep me hooked.

With one quirky decision or another that they choose to dominate each song, with off-kilter production choices and multiple vocal parts that sound like they belong in different universes, their music sounds unique, left-field, and consistently brilliant. (sistra)
