"See You Later, Separator..."
The title track from Grady Strange's latest full length "See You Later, Separator" is yet another perfect example of the auteur's signature sound. The Los Angeles based solo musical mission of Grady Wenrich, with "help from his partner Mackenzie Howe aka Pet Dress, their dog Dolly Parton, and friends", is a gleeful, sideways indie rock, art punk escapade, this time performed by Wenrich all by himself, "I recorded it and performed it all in my kitchen to a four track tape machine".
The song spills slowly, gently, but from the very beginning the jangle pop grunge shapes fall in a chill way with cool vocal melodies from Wenrich and glam guitar lines striking on off beats (love this). The chorus drops in added heaviness in such a magnetic way. How the fuck does Wenrich achieve this sound on tape in his kitchen. Even the drum kit feels, sounds great.
Of the song, Wenrich shares: "This song is about me experiencing a shift in perspective on life. No longer seeking or needing individual attention, but seeing myself as a part of a whole."
Dig Grady Strange always. Dive deep into the album, will ya?

Grady Strange is the solo music mission of Grady Wenrich, along with help from his partner Mackenzie Howe aka Pet Dress, their dog Dolly Parton, and friends. Based out of LA, some call it "saltwater cowgirl rocknroll", others call it an honest attempt. And what else can we do these days? The world is dying and giving you all that it can so you can have a good time. Don't let it down.
