"all the pressure off your lips / talking about those who found their hips..."
Bathed in iterations of psychedelic soul, funk and indie rock that dips into progressive places, "Dancer" by Northern Idaho bred, Nashville based duo Small Victory is a song that slips under your skin in seductive ways. It cajoles, at first delicately on what feels like Casio-fied guiro pushed Latin rhythm and then slips into intricate lounge pop until it drops major psych rock vibes, the keys themselves grab you by the collar in the best ways. The vox, clear and dreamy feel comfortable and then at precisely 1:50 after the first chorus, this fucking amazing breakdown happens. Progressively drawn, super jammy it glues sections together, it is exquisitely cool but rocks in the best way.
Henry and Reed share this about "Dancer":
[This tune was recorded in the woods at Polychrome Ranch with Jared Corder (*repeat repeat). We really feel proud of the intimate storytelling juxtaposed with the dynamic instrumental underneath it all on this song - we feel it's the strongest representation yet of 'our sound.']

Henry and Reed grew up together in the rolling hills of northern Idaho. After playing consistently throughout the region in their high school band, they split off to pursue academic music. Now together again in Nashville, they write and sing and dance like no time has passed. Blending their 60’s folk-rock influence with the sounds of modern indie production, Small Victory is ready to play for anyone willing to listen.
