Violet Silhouette and the darkly cool allure of "Hierda Demoniaca" (Official Video)

"five nights of suffocation / lead me / to breathe you in / you make the windows arrest me with your gaze enshrined / my body and all of my time..."

Fall into the post punk allure, total allure of "Hierda Demoniaca" by the dance punk / postwave trio Violet Silhouette and will gladly swallow the pill they are giving you. On their sophomore EP “FEVERBLUE" they explore their conception of “Neuromanticism” that they describe as "a strange collection of sensory experiences and our sometimes fatal chase to reach the 'highest' ideal for truth and love" and I feel both a sultry and subversive streak running through their sound and the accompanying Official Video for "Hierda Demoniaca". Maybe it is the dark self aware croon pouring from the lead vocals, maybe it is the somber down turned chord shapes and synth sound, the melancholy burning cool cadence, the scowling moody look of Violet Silhouette themselves or the surreal beautiful poetry encased in the lyrics:

"five nights of suffocation / lead me / to breathe you in / you make the windows arrest me with your gaze enshrined / my body and all of my time..."

but I imagined that this trio is from some unknown region of Italy or Belarus in a never released late 70's Lynch or Cronenberg film, after all "neuro" is close to "eros" and the song / video is erotic within it's mysterious subversion, dark romance and 80's neon cool nature. The 90's post punk era is bubbling up and the sound is growing, reviving in big ways. A lot of this resurgence involves all the tropes without the personal edges, unique emotional thrust born out in the artful universe building and engaging lyrical content that I am experiencing here. Bravo.

In their latest body of work, Dance-Punk/Postwave trio Violet Silhouette explores “Neuromanticism” – a strange collection of sensory experiences and our sometimes fatal chase to reach the “highest” ideal for truth and love

Formed in late 2019, the group released its first EP “SEMIPERMANENTDEREALIZATION” in 2021, writing and recording in the midst of the pandemic.

The encroachment of internal chaos felt in the group's ‘emotional unconscious’ spawns a pandemonium of haunting archetypes and secret love languages that form what the band calls internally, “The Silhouette.” An always forming, malleable entity that encompasses the end result of their writing, production, and performances.

This is evident in the band’s emotionally-charged and exuberant live performances. Words such as spontaneous and unpredictable are frequently applied to the group as they move on stage in drama-heavy body gestures with currents of electricity randomly ripping through the group. The performance is a personification of defiance. Like something caged up that has no intention of staying there for long.

Violet Silhouette surfaces with their first single “Strange Wind” from the band’s forthcoming second EP “FEVERBLUE”.
