Sprinter and the grand psych rock battle of "Evil Wizard"

"I plan to expose him / he will plaster my name all over this town..."

The massive serpentine guitar moves of "Evil Wizard" by Perth, Australia based psych rock outfit Sprinter, amp you up instantly even while tempered by the sheer artfulness of the story telling. Soon enough the galloping drum beats, screaming guitar leads, punch drunk bass lines, doomy keys and dreamy, crooning vocals will quite possibly hypnotize you. There are moments when the guitars feel restrained and surfy, other times sort of psych medieval and other times other worldly, screeching, cawing like a bird or snorting like a massive horse. The sonics from glistening to audaciously smashing make sense as the band says, "It's a psychedelic battle between an evil wizard and a man who is determined to expose him."

Hell, I would like to see this song as a movie.

"Evil Wizard" is from Spinter's current EP of the same name.

Their first 5 singles all garnered Triple J attention and they’ve shared the stage with the likes of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Royel Otis and many more.

November will see the arrival of their debut album - Sprinter - a DIY effort recorded between their own share houses and the local pub.

In celebration of the album release, Sprinter have put together a festival mere metres away from the bar room they recorded it in. The Rosemount Hotel main room will play host to Jogger Fest, featuring a stacked line-up of Perth’s best, as well as pop up stalls and more TBA.
