The utterly compelling, emotionally drawn "Listener" by London 5 piece alt rock outfit something in the lake feels like a beautiful opening. Maybe an introduction to a film or a personal discovery in your own heart or a big grand revelation about the world in general or a microscopic revelation about a specific thing that happened in your past, something. I love the intimate nature of the Leon's vocals, I love the interweaving musicality that sparkles and provides sonic embraces and hard tensions pushing against one another at the same time. This vocal passage or excerpt of a larger passion sticks in my brain and heart, "often embarrassed we lash out on people we love...", and there are other lyrical gems throughout, a jumping off point for late night discussions.

Upon repeated listens you will key in on deeply artful bass lines, percussive sounds that feel like a cross between organica and electronica, lead guitar lines that drone like orchestral strings and more.

[‘Listener’ was self-produced, two of the band currently study production at Guildhall School of Music, and recorded between bedroom studios in north London after recording drums at engineer Harri Chambers’ studio in Woolwich. Parts were stretched, torn, detuned and stitched back together by band member Torin Umrigar and then multi-tracked up with instruments and sounds over a series of months. Tape hissing and re-amped heavy, the resulting track is warm and wild! It will be the first instalment from their upcoming second EP "Numina".]
