"oh dear, let's try / and we'll last forever..."
The forever beauty of "Take Me Home" by Lisbon Portugal's indie rock dreamers Too Many Suns and featuring Beatriz Nunes (Madredeus) is so easy to love, to fall head over heals for. It might be the dreamy nature of the vocals and embracing harmonies, it may be the pearly romanticism of lines like "let's just get carried away" embedded with many meanings or it may be the cross generational blending of genres. I feel a 70's Pink Floyd-esque psychedelic nod and 80's jangle pop ala The La's or 90's twee like The Field Mice (or thereabouts). You may feel other sonic touchstones but they will surely all be impactful, lovely ones.
LINER NOTES (bracketed):
[After “Gold” and “My Baby Goodbye”, Too Many Suns bring us the third work of their new album “Reverie”. Their new single “Take Me Home” dwells on what is our role and the other’s role in the reconstruction of the Self, and counts with the beautiful voice of Beatriz Nunes (Madredeus’ current vocalist). The band tells us:
“In turbulent times, the security of getting back home is of as much importance as the possibility to explore new exciting pathways, with everything being richer when one is able to share this process with a loved one. ‘Take Me Home’ is a love song that dwells on what is our role and the other’s role in the reconstruction of the Self”.]

It was in Lisbon that two friends, Hugo Hugon (vocals/guitar) and João Cardoso (drums), founded the band Too Many Suns. The seed was planted in a DIY studio in the heart of Lisbon, and within a few weeks they created the five songs that gave rise to their first EP "Garden", produced in partnership with Gonçalo Formiga from Cave Story, in his home studio in the West of Portugal, near the sea.
During the launch of the debut-EP, the next album was already the main focus of the band. With the band new acquisition for the bass Vasco Rato, they worked continuously in their studio on a more-than-a-year quest for the composition of new songs. This meticulous work gave birth to their new album "Meaning of Light", recorded and produced by Miguel Vilhena in pontiaq Records studios. An album that spans many worlds, with songs that go from a more introspective folk to grunge and more reverberant noise, stepping grounds on a more chilled and sunny pop.
With the perspective of upcoming concerts for the presentation of their new album that Too Many Suns, soon with more elements, intends to leave their mark in the music scene.
