Conflict at Serenity Pools and the moonlit memory flowers of "rosey dream i"

"how could I? / how could I? / world doesn't make sense when you're away..."

The scattered, eclipsed resonance of "rosey dream i" by Venice Beach California's Conflict at Serenity Pools feels like transient memories like light through tree limbs and leaves blinding you. Maybe it is because the magnetic pull seems to come from tape heads, from 80's and 90's sonic seeds. In one long cleansing breath I thought of an amalgam of Cocteau Twins, Pale Saints, Smashing Pumpkins and The Cure, of skateboarding in baggy jeans with uneven shredded ends draping over Airwalk Enigmas.

Digging the movements, the cadence pushed by what feels like machine beats, the throttling guitar strings, easy endearing vocals. The vibe recall like late night hugs in busy downtown streets or lonely suburbia streets, meeting up with friends seeing bands in the back of a Bike Shop in Silverlake or at a loft show downtown. Cool track.

Some great LINER NOTES:

“Rosey dream i” is the first single off incoming EP Rosey Dreams, which comes out in full February 8th. The EP explores expectations and goals through the guise of tarot, dreams and daily grinds. With a febrile, winter perspective the EP pulls from the genres of dub, lo-fi dream pop, and shoe gaze. Two singles stand out, “rosey dream i” (the first single out January 18th) and rosey dream ii (out feb 8th) ; both are essentially the same song but recorded at different times in the last month, showing how much a different day and mindset can impact a track. As Luke from CASP states "the EP’s main theme is tarot and dreams/goals— which future do we enter via out intentions, and how different do we feel from day to day as we move forward, because things often change, but maybe the foundation or intention is the same"
