The Entrepreneurs and the distorted artful alt rock drama of "Ether"

The rattling distortions / ramping up tensions of the artfully brooding "Ether", by Copenhagen-based noise rock trio The Entrepreneurs, feels like a crowd with electronic pitchforks surrounding your home. The artful subversions punctuated with horror pop squeals and metallic chalkboard scratches also feels elegantly drawn as it does mysteriously dark. I am digging the juxtaposition of these sonic temperaments. The piano shapes and over reaching vocal melodies soaked in dark art rock psychedelia feel seeded from 70's space rock. The booming shuffling drums, big dirty bass lines hold up the verse progressions with cool vocal harmonies creating an atmosphere that feels opaque and claustrophobic. When the chorus hits - the song opens up becomes lighter, graced with a pop prowess until the song eventually swallows you whole.

From The Entrepreneurs' upcoming album, "Sky Forever", "Ether" is the second single and feels cinematic like it would grace the next surreal Netflix or Hulu binger.

Lovely LINER NOTES (bracketed):

[The Entrepreneurs started out as a duo when bass player Anders Hvass and singer/guitarist Mathias Bertelsen met in their teens starting high school in northern Denmark. They grew up in Thy, a rural region of Denmark, known for its creative environment and progressive youth culture, despite - or maybe because of - its remote location. As they grew older and craved new impressions, they moved across the country to Copenhagen where they met Jonas Wetterslev, who became their drummer. After touring extensively with their debut EP, the trio gained a reputation as one of the fiercest live bands in Denmark bringing their aesthetically rich and experimental take on some of rock’s most significant subgenres like punk, grunge and post-rock to stages around Europe.]

A slow-building, hypnotic and consistently nerve-rattlingly intense, this thumping rock-ballad feels The Beatles filtered through the vampiric horror of Radiohead's We Suck Young Blood. Second single from Copenhagen-based noise rock trio The Entrepreneurs' upcoming album, Sky Forever.
