The absolute massive Alt rock post punk pummel of "Safe Word" by tummyache, the alt rock project of songwriter / producer Soren Bryce, feels gorgeously blendo and while coming up with a genric description might be futile I will try. (THINKING) At this particular time and bare in mind that I have been actually having a tummy ache today, no lie, that the feeling in my gut may color this but there is something art rockish plus alt rock plus art punk plus psychedelic plus surfy punk like an amalgam of Death from Above 1979, 90's Radiohead, Meatbodies and Dog Party. Anyway, that is my best description in my incapacitated state and, suffice it to say, I really, REALLY, dig this track. The sparse, yet heavy, subversion, the throttling drums, the cutting distortions saturating Soren voice full of snarl and snark just appeals to me.
