Brian Charles Nixon and beautifully skewed experimental chamber folk perception of "A Mind at Ease"

"Tonight, Tonight, Tonight / I will be the one you see / Tonight, tonight, tonight / A gentle breeze, a mind at ease..."

The immersive surreal folk waltz of "A Mind at Ease" by Albuquerque, New Mexico (via Los Angeles) based musician, writer, visual artist Brian Charles Nixon feels more like a series of abstract dioramas or maybe a zoetrope that magically does not simply repeat the short movie but plays an extended one. If "A Mind at Ease" was, indeed, a movie with it's non specific sonic landscape, blend of ambient sounds and whimsical positioning of instruments from guitar, glockenspiel, violin, viola, accordion, flutes, mandolin, banjo and a typewriter of all things, adorned with the stately vocal countenance that story teller Brian Charles Nixon give it (like a turn of the century performer behind foot lights), the movie in question would surely be made with an artful skewed perception, an amalgam of film makers like Terry Gilliam, Tim Burton, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Wes Anderson.

As LINER NOTES reveal Brian Charles Nixon "...concentrates on chamber folk and experimental music with a touch of Americana. He's a member of the bands, Low to Ground and The Beautiful Gallows, and author of several books on Theopoetics".

"Tonight, Tonight, Tonight
I will be the one you see
Tonight, tonight, tonight,
A gentle breeze, a mind at ease

The blue blouse you wear
You lay on a chair
Body so bare
You’re dark, dark hair
There is nothing so fair

Tonight, Tonight, Tonight
The room is still, I’m at your will
Tonight, tonight, tonight,
The lovely trees, a mind at ease"

Startlingly different than most of the music I cover under the alternative indie / post punk broad umbrella, "A Mind at Ease", the intro track to the upcoming experimental chamber folk album "White Flowers", is certainly alternative and just plain trippy as all get out.
