Basic Cable and the roasted indie rock blend of "Change Your Mind"

"I would die for you / my dear/ I would tell you what you want to hear..."

The roasted blend of "Change Your Mind" by Basic Cable, the new indie music project by Brooklyn based Shane Pi has a wonky taste with abstract kind of 80's new wave predilections, funky bass shapes and urgent surf pop punk cadences. Like an amalgam of The Drums, Surf Curse and Porches it swings while feeling synth pop or post punk surreal at the same time. The glitchy distortions remind me of some math rock, glitch pop influences and the guitar shapes and lead sustains have hints of jazz dipped art rock and glam too. A lot to digest but like a great complex roast of new coffee the tastes is easy to swallow and the artful totality floats up through your nose and directly into your brain. Fun and inviting and deceptively sort of all over the place while feeling congruent to itself.

"I would die for you my dear
I would tell you what you want to hear

Heed the warning this time
Leave the space to change your mind

I would love every inch of you
I would always see your point of view

Heed the warning this time
Leave the space to change your mind
Heed the warning this time
Leave the space to change your mind"

Anyway, my first swallow and I like it a lot.
