Forgotten Arm and the distortive and delicate dreaminess of "Stress Party" (Official Video)

"creates beautiful, psychedelically washed tensions in your head and wanderlust in your heart..."

The abstract, alt pop electronica meets blues amble of "Stress Party" by Forgotten Arm, the new side project from the renowned American bassist Nick Jost and Ecuadorian session drummer Andrés Benavides, creates beautiful, psychedelically washed tensions in your head and wanderlust in your heart, at least it does for me. The mix of whimsy, driving distortions, collisions of trip hop smashed beats, what feels like a stand up bass and fluttering electronica that feels like a glimpse into the past (vintage patina) and future (sci-fi phonic) is beyond evocative. There is something divergent, subversive going on but delicate and beautifully dreamy too. I could easily see this track accompanying an interesting future film by Yorgos Lanthimos, for example.

Check out these inviting details via LINER NOTES (bracketed):

[Nick Jost, bassist for rock band Baroness, met drummer Andrés Benavides in 2017, during a trip to Quito, Ecuador.]

[The two started to jam with no apparent goal and despite their different cultural backgrounds, the connection was immediate. Inspired by some travelling inside the Andes mountain range and ecuadorian jungle, more sessions were recorded and then released as their first cassette entitled Post Reggaeton, which features a lo-fi, heavily processed sound.]

[After that release, they met in Brooklyn to record their first full-length album, Día de los Inocentes, which broadens their sonic spectrum, from cinematic music to Post-Metal, tribal, ambiences and IDM. Several tracks from this forthcoming album have already been used on collaborations with video and mapping artists such as Japanese-born Motomichi Nakamura (The Knife, Otto Von Schirach) and ecuadorian Miguel Angel Murgueytio and formed part of festivals such as Art-Media Façade (South Korea) and FFF (Ecuador)]

Dream on, sweet people and tread this sometimes scary world carefully but with love. "Stress Party" features Nick Jost on bass, keyboards, guitar and vocals AND Andrés Benavides on drums, percussion and programming.
