The Blanket Forts and the mysterious transmission of "☯︎♀☽◯☾♀☯︎"

"just let me in / open your heart..."

The diachotomous auras of "☯︎♀☽◯☾♀☯︎" by The Blanket Forts, the moniker of Worcester, Massachusetts' singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Conor MacGinnis, slithers under you skin in mysterious ways. In some ways it has vintage folk markers but in other ways it feels surreal or even sci-fi in tone and maybe overall it feels like a Church song, a spiritual of sorts or a transmission from space.

This song is inspired by a girl I had met on a trip abroad who made me re-think my entire life in the span of a single conversation.

I have reported on other artists that have created whole songs out of a random bits of information like seeing a couple standing on an overpass and imagining what their relationship is and what they are thinking or seeing someone on an airplane and creating an alternate universe with them. I love songs that are seeded by something transient and going from there.

The brevity of this track skews it in different ways too and I have commented on the short takes and take away from some of MacGinnis's past work. I like the short glimpses because they, in a way, cam become a random seed to maybe something else.
