The retro new wave-esque proto punk iteration of "Seeing" by Brooklyn's experimental rock trio Half Human feels like three different sized and oblique gears spinning, engaging with each other, creating stress points and sparks but turning just the same. Like an amalgam of iconic bands like Devo, Gang of Four and early Police each gear is screaming, pounding, moshing against each other. I am appreciating, eating up the wide eyed vocal countenance and the words that are tumbling out of their mouths.

"Seeing", from the band's third full length “Shape Language”, that just dropped in August, stirs the abstract punk pool that has never died out completely. The need to get back to raw, progressive sounds is growing as the formulaic pop molds sounding all the same are starting to crack.

Half Human is a three piece experimental rock trio from Brooklyn. They combine both dark and frenetic textures with creative song structures and sound collage.

The Brooklyn experimental-rock trio returns on August 9th with their third full length, “Shape Language”. Over the course of 10 crisp tracks the band exercises their knack for crackling off-kilter grooves and unpredictable melodies. The two singles “Seeing” and “Mineral Thinking” get right to the point with clear, inviting hooks, while in the context of the full album, the edges blur as the band’s wider interests in improvisation, tape-loops and sonic exploration fill the seams.
