Nothingheads and the feral bloody pulp ferocity of "Private Pyle" (Official Video)

"reliving fantasies / behind the tv screens..."

With the feverish feral ferocity of a bloody pulp most pit, "Private Pyle", by London alt rock / punk throttlers Nothingheads, and from their upcoming album "The Art of Sod", throws down guitar shapes that are massive, yes, but more than that, angular and aggressive in their sonic personna. Perfect for a song named "Private Pyle" whose namesake carries the emotional gravitas of an unstable character who turns the brutality of his mindset (stoked by the Government who want to make him a killer) in on himself via Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket".

The band say, ‘We built the song around a central booming riff that never strays far, always returning to its core. Thematically, it explores the illusion of free will. Shut up and be happy."

The song kills, and while that may be ultimately a poor choice of words, it feels saturated in iconic punk, politico punk, alt rock iconography and I, personally, feel a collision of artists like Black Sabbath, Buzzcocks, The Dead Kennedys, Killing Joke. Bits and piece sonically but more attitudinally, in terms of the subversive nature of the brooding, no holds barred aesthetic. The rage cage in full form and there has maybe not been a more divisive world to vent within.

LINER NOTES:

[Having built up a reputation on the UK’s underground live circuit since forming in 2021, Nothingheads make guitar-driven soup that falls somewhere within dark post-punk and garage punk. Static noise flashes as big riffs and snarling vocals cut through the dirge. Following last year’s EP ‘Sunlit Uplands’, the band will release their debut album, ‘The Art of Sod” on November 8th via Sister 9 recordings, preceded by a string of singles.]

'A riffier less brittle version of Public Image Limited but with that tear your hair out frustration of bands like Mclusky’ (Steve Lamacq) ‘It riots along, confrontational and searing, angular guitars firing out over and tank-driven rhythmic rumble of the drums and bass,' (Louder than War)
