"it really matters / all magic and stuff / without them we all die... die..."
The spicy chicken psych garage rock bipolarisms of "Crazy Magician Man" by the enigmatic, curiously named Alligator Ladies is totally sonic delicious. I don't know anything about Ben Avgay & Eden Atiya who created this song / sound which may or may not be their debut (I think it is). There is a lot going on and while a short song, "Crazy Magician Man" with it's unbridled heavy psych or even psyche rock expansive sound counterpoised with a surprisingly kind of flower pop chorus has me smitten.
While listening I thought of a kind of scale of sounds read from left to right which would look something like this, OSEES on the massive heavy left beginning with it's bending Dwyer-ish spring reverb slaps and Mallard on the obtuse yet whimsical middle / The Pumpkin Fairies on the psychedelic twee other side of the middle and finally The Partridge Family on the oh gosh bubble gum pop far right. I am not trying to be weird with this description and I list these first impressions as an utter compliment.
This Alligator Ladies introduction with its lovely left turns, humor and subversions has capped this harried Saturday quite nicely.
