Dark And Twisties and the angelic / devilish rustic folk tug of war of "The Wild" (Official Video)

"the lab boys said that a storm was a comin'..."

The angelic / devilish rustic folk tug of war of "The Wild" by Swansea alt-folk band Dark And Twisties is one of those beautiful harmony filled porch folk ditties that feels, at once church like and agnostic at the very same time. Depending on what kind of glasses you are wearing, the beautiful fableistic storytelling can feel as ernest as your grandmother's embrace or if your lens are cracked maybe feel a bit tongue and cheek and therein lies the charm and the magic, at least to me (wink).

Dark and Twisties are Sarah Birch, Kate Ronconi, Sarah Passmore, Danny Kilbride and Huw Rees. Kate shares this about this beautifully vast track:

“‘The Wild’ is a call to acknowledge the power of nature and the fragility of our existence,” says Ronconi. “In a world where we often take for granted what the Earth provides, we wanted to capture the moment when nature reminds us of its strength and importance.”

There is something decidedly theatrical going on in a sort of Rodgers and Hammerstein kind of way meets an amalgam of artists like Nickel Creek and Azure Ray, or something like that (I think anyway). All I know is that hearing the Dark And Twisties in the middle of a forest would be better than a Church to me.

Prepare to be swept into a world of beauty and shadow with Dark and Twisties, the alt-folk band that’s making waves with their evocative harmonies and story telling. Drawing inspiration from both nature’s power and the depths of the human experience, the group brings a unique sound that intertwines the dark beauty of traditional folk with modern, ethereal sensibilities. Dark and Twisties are; Sarah Birch, Kate Ronconi, Sarah Passmore, Danny Kilbride and Huw Rees.

They have received a rapturous reception since bursting into the scene just months ago, weaving stories old and new into strange and beautiful songs with glorious harmonies and skilful musicianship.

The Wild paints vivid scenes of nature in turmoil, & while their harmonies elevate, the music flows like the storm they describe, rising and falling in a sweeping narrative that blends seamlessly with their textured vocals and acoustic depth.

“‘The Wild’ is a call to acknowledge the power of nature and the fragility of our existence,” said Kate Ronconi. “In a world where we often take for granted what the Earth provides, we wanted to capture the moment when nature reminds us of its strength and importance.”

Dark and Twisties continue to build a loyal following across the alt-folk scene with intimate live performances and harmonies that transport listeners into a different realm. Their music is a perfect fit for those who love the eerie, the beautiful, and the transcendent.
