Lorie and the rolling abstract cartwheels of "Ode To My Mother"

"This song is dedicated to our singer’s mother! Our joke is that this is if John Mayer made a song in Mordor"

The rolling abstract cartwheels of "Ode To My Mother", by Atlanta. Georgia's Lorie, and from the bands latest eponymous 5 track album, spiral down with angular bass, guitar, drums, tubular keys and aloof vocals, all parts seemingly connected but striking out in all directions. For me there is a sense of the kind of progressive, new wave-esque puzzle piece indie rock of iconic shape shifters like Television, Gang of Four and, of course, another Georgia band (from Athens) Pylon.

LINER NOTES:

[Lorie is a group of musicians out of Atlanta. They draw from influences ranging from 60s French pop to late 90s/early 2000s indie, with an emphasis on melody and introspection.]

It is getting freaking cold in my neck of the woods (literally) and I look forward to wrapping myself in plaid blankets and listening to "Lorie" the 5 track album soon, Tracked/Mixed/Mastered by Jalen Jenkins in Atlanta, GA.
