Verry Gerry and the dynamic power pop iterations of "The Face You Try To Hide" (Official Video)

"cuz I see in your eyes / the face you try to hide / cuz you let your fading spirit die..."

The dynamic power pop iterations of "The Face You Try To Hide" by Verry Gerry, the musical moniker of Truro Nova Scotia singer-songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Keith Doiron crafts sounds that feel gleefully inspired. The sheer proggy nature, the quiet / loud aesthetic, the truly nimble dirty lead guitar breaks saturated in art rock / glam subversions makes for a sound that has alt rock grit and golly gee atmospheres at the same time.

For me, his sound has the same kind of sonic nucleic acid of 80's bands that themselves collided elements of new wave, baroque pop, proto punk in creative, sometimes whimsical, pure power pop ways. Artists like Squeeze, Split ENZ, XTC, The Undertones, Nada Surf, Elvis Costello, come readily to mind.

Cool- very cool.
