Gramofone and the spinning rock fusions and abstract sonic torrents of "Water" (Official Video)

"Sink your spirit in the water / Your religion is the ocean deep / No more fear, you need the water / No more questions, no emotions deep..."

The spinning rock fusions and abstract sonic torrents of "Water" by Gramofone, a Romanian four piece alt rock outfit, stirs the imagination with blends of post rock, funky alt pop dives all with a cinematic flair. Consisting of Paul Drăgușin (vocals/keys), Vlad Dumitrescu (vocals/guitars), Cristian Nicoară (drums) and Radu Camburu (bass), the sense is free wheeling and highly groove based with cross genre'd and cross generational touchstones. I mean, I thought of artful connections as diverse as 80's East Coast funk punk ala Talking Heads, post rock experimentations ala Radiohead and the soundscapes for 1977 horror classic 'Suspiria' voiced by Italian prog rockers Goblin. Such a heady, disparate sense of atmospheres and musicality overall says a lot.

LINER NOTES:

["Water" is a piece that explores emotional depths and universal themes of self-discovery and acceptance.

"Water" combines melancholic elements from electronic music, seasoned with indie rock influences, creating an introspective and captivating sonic experience. The song's lyrics address themes such as letting go, self-searching, and the attraction to something deeper, conveying a sense of longing and emotional weight.]

Gramofone is a four piece Romanian band consisting of Paul Drăgușin (vocals/keys), Vlad Dumitrescu (vocals/guitars), Cristian Nicoară (drums) and Radu Camburu (bass).

We started our journey in 2017 with the release of our album “Confessions from the Belly of the Beast”. The album together with our most recent singles talk about the modern dystopia and its realities, focusing on the universal struggles of the modern man.

More simply put:

“I’m smart and I’m in control”

Because we’ve all faced the fear of being just another face in the crowd, the mechanic & purposeless work that we do every day from 9 to 5, the impact of mass media, the propaganda we face and last but not least the understanding that we’re only partially in control of our lives.

And at one point you realize that:

“I don’t like smothering my urges just to get my cut”

We need to make our voices heard, to give people a wake-up call, to give them the music for their heart & soul, not neglecting the essence of the message which transpires with every lyric.

Let’s bring meaning back to the music we listen to because this is no longer just about the beat.

This is Gramofone.

The band opened for Bon Jovi's gig in Bucharest last year and hit several important national festivals.
