Caleb L'Etoile and the rustic emotionally off grid artful panacea of "MARIANA"

"He said I'm sorry about my over active / Satisfaction seeking little heart / I know I gotta cool it / Down down down..."

The rustic emotionally off grid artful panacea of "MARIANA", by Virginia artist / producer Caleb L’Etoile, feels like a plunging escape via a junky pick up truck away from a collapsing world. Caleb, an artist with his own colored lens and artistic perspective has been sticking prickly sonic toothpicks in my brain for quite some time. Like all great artists some of his work is hit and miss (for me) but he always crafts original works that feel like small or large exorcisms than just performances of songs. His art feels like deconstructions, feels highly filmic or about things that would stimulate other creatives to create.

"MARIANA" feel to me, like something between porch blues indie rock and busker punk. It is delicious in it's raw, real aesthetic. Caleb is a pure storyteller and his lyrics feel injected straight into your swollen veins flowing to the parts of your body that needs nourishment, even if darkly drawn. I like the slapping shuffling drum beat, the four square positioned guitar plucks, Caleb's self harmonized vocal performance that rushes and slows down, that rises and slides, a true folk song with country or western noir leans, a Paul Simon song if he had been into punk instead of folk and pop. Special kudos to, big ones to the electric guitar work and solo by Caleb's friend Justin Hla-Gyaw of the band Wandering Years who adds such artistic bite to "MARIANA".

LINER NOTES:

[Mariana is the 5th single off my 'living' album that I'm writing and releasing as I go. It's the most 'single' friendly song I've released from this project and is a rollicking alt-country tune with some light electronics and a guitar solo played by my friend Justin Hla-Gyaw of the band Wandering Years. Thematically, it speaks to the bleak times we're living in.] - caleb

"Honey don’t you know that the world is ending
Won’t you come with me while we still got time
Let’s move to the country bring the
Dog and the cat
I’ll sing you songs while you rest by my side"

Caleb L’Etoile is an artist/producer from Virginia who paints vivid portraits of life's rawest moments through cathartic, dance-fueled anthems that sit somewhere between the edges of pop, indie rock, and electronica.

[I’m Caleb. I am an artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer from Virginia. I make DIY art pop music in my bedroom that blurs the edges of pop, indie rock, and electronica. I’ve released 2 EPs this year and will be releasing my full length album, You Gathered Friction, on December 13. I write music that I think sounds like me and I hope you enjoy it.]- Caleb
