The deeply grooved, cut and polished politico alt rock / dance post punk revelry of "Ode to the Oligarchs", by Los Angeles based hybridic hip hop / indie rock artist Trop Mal, is an addictive anthem, comely caveat to all of us in America (and elsewhere) whose democratic ideals are slowly getting crushed to bits. A magnetic blend of plucky acoustic guitar, broadly booming bass rhythms, machine beats, rock guitar and warbling drones of atmospheric sounds provide a lovely shapeshifting backdrop from Trop Mal's equally evocative vocal countenance that straddles spoken word, hip hop, singing and (oh, I almost forgot) the lead guitar breakdown kicks ass in a way that makes you want to either dance or skate. 

I appreciate the undercurrent social commentary but part of me wonders if this track is so exhilaratingly cool that the message gets undercut a bit (sorry I think to much). I mean who would've thought that social justice warring could sound so cool. I do, however, would love to see this amazing track incorporated at the Bernie Sanders / AOC "The Fighting Oligarchy Tour". I really mean that! I encourage Trop Mal or representatives to reach out to them.
