Sleeps While Walking and the dense emotional distortions of "Hollowman" (Official Lyric Video)

"you found another bar / they don't know who you are / and if you do your best / you can fade in with the rest..."

The dense emotional distortions of "Hollowman", by Chicago’s Sleeps While Walking, steps back with a sort of communal indie sound reaching back to 90's alt rock filtered through layers of wistful progressive emo / busker punk vibes. The atmosphere glistens at time as if the song itself is dreamt somehow and the lyrical poetry, full of angst ridden self deprecating existential dread is relatable.

"you found another bar / they don't know who you are / and if you do your best / you can fade in with the rest / cuz when you try / you're always met with sighs / best drink alone / no one's fault bur your own /  hollow man / out on the town again / just another grand, bland / damn disappointment /  hollow man / out on the town again / just another grand, bland / damn disappointment..."

LINER NOTES:

[Chicago’s Sleeps While Walking have released their new single, Hollowman, which is a polished step forward from their raw debut EP.]

[Trading bedroom recordings for the refined acoustics of Echo Mill Studios, the band crafts a compelling fusion of shimmering synths and piano with brooding guitars and gut-punch drums. Hollowman feels both intimate and explosive—a grungegaze anthem about the isolating experience of feeling invisible in a crowd.]

Sleeps | Chicago “Knew these guys, and creativity was the only way to move on. They went on to form a band and produce a sound that met every suburban defeat I've ever known. It electrifies and resounds the highs and lows of being in a place and dealing with it. Like many midwestern bands, but with a bit more of a mature sound that can carry you into adulthood with them. They didn't give in or give up. The production is on point, and these guys know how to rock. Their melodies will plank you into privacy and make you come face to face with your reality.” -Adam Johnson
