Spencer Pope and the runaway indie rock / power pop punches and whimsy of "You Can't Touch a Mirage" (Official Video)

"I took your picture down / I took your picture down / you're not coming back..."

The runaway indie rock / power pop punches and whimsy of "You Can't Touch a Mirage", by Atlanta's singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Spencer Pope, is one of those bangers that cross blends sonically and musically in pretty perfect ways. The guitars encompass a broad range of punk and indie from the Ramones to Surf Curse but the warbled synth and perky waggish piano keys wonderfully suggest art pop / twee / baroque punk ala Sparks or The Last Dinner Party or Tiger Trap. Throw Pope's 80's new wave punk / glammy vocal snarl and this mixed bag is a hell of a lot of fun, and potently magnetic. Great job Mr. Pope.

I'm from Atlanta. I play piano. I play some other stuff too. One time a guy ate a whole box of crayons and puked it back up onstage at my band's gig. It was the third song. Pro tip, ask that guy to wait till the last song.

I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing
