Robert Melkumyan and the dreamy tipping freefall of "Trouble In Your Head"

"Please driver outrace this car / I can't miss another chance /To be alone, alone again / Was it quiet enough to feel some grief?

The dreamy tipping freefall of "Trouble In Your Head", by Amenian born, London based guitarist, songwriter, producer Robert Melkumyan, runs on uneven ground, a cat and mouse affair during an earthquake. From the onset, the shuffling staggering drum beat, the angular electric guitar rhythms, the pronounced snaking bass line, layers of electronica, crying keys and Melkumyan's forlorn vocal countenance, caught in a shape shifting daymare (maybe of his own making or not) makes for a moody affair rich in illusory states. I love a lot going on in this song but maybe the highlight for me is the lead guitar break that drops at around 1 minute 49 seconds in. It is not only artfully melodic but extremely textured in a sinewy way dusted with fuzzy sustains.

Melkumyan says this about this track:

[This song explores the need for solitude in a world overflowing with noise—whether it’s media chatter, constant social buzz, or the pressure to always be “on.” It’s about embracing those quiet moments, learning to be alone without feeling lonely, and turning solitude into something creative and constructive.]

"Trouble In Your Head" is from Robert Melkumyan's new album "All It Takes".
