BabyJake's chill, self assured croon on the dreamy "Blue Cellophane"

AP Track Review

The track Blue Cellophane by South West, Florida's BabyJake rides on a dreamy vibe encased in chill, self assured vox crooning over sparse pop and a full sweeping chorus bathed in R&B tones. BabyJake's style (like the sultry lead guitar break) knows when to push his vocal prowess and when to swing nice and easy, nice and slow.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

BabyJake is the latest music artist to acquire buzz out of South West, Florida. After cumaliting over 13 million streams with his songs “Cigarettes and Patios” and “239,” he’s reaching for new heights on his third release “Blue Cellophane.” The classic rock inspired track showcases BabyJake’s vocal range paired with stripped back production displaying his musical diversity and talent. This genre-blurring phenomenon turns up with a unique and undeniable anthem.
However, that’s what he was always meant to do.
Born in Key West though raised in Ft. Myers, BabyJake’s entry into music started at a young age. “I played the guitar since I was like eight years old, then started dabbling in production and writing at 14-15,” the young artist explains.
His plan out of high school was to play college sports, though that plan changed fairly quickly. “I realized that I didn’t want to play college athletics or professional athletics,” BabyJake recalls. “I was pretty lost for that year during college because I didn’t really know if I could take music seriously.”
After a year, he dropped out and returned home to record and release music under his government name, Jake Herring. After self-releasing an EP titled Little Mess, and a single, “Miami” that garnered attention online, he connected with producers Luyo Mario and DVLP who saw Jake’s true potential for stardom. “Luyo was the one who introduced me to the music industry [and] DVLP took me out to LA to take the next step up,” Jake says, as labels were vying for his attention. He inked a deal with School Boy Records and Republic Records through DVLP’s Transcendent Entertainment imprint after catching the attention of SB Projects with a new name [BabyJake] and a whole new angle to his craft.
Harnessing his knack for strong songwriting through his folk past mixed with his love of hip-hop, BabyJake is geared to mix genres and feelings in a way that’s never been done before. “My goal is to reach out to people and connect to their hearts the way my lyrics connect to mine,” he says. “You don’t have to have the same experiences to have the same feelings.
